9 to 5 The Musical requires misogynist boss Franklin Hart, Jr. to be tied up and hoisted into the air by his revolting employees Violet, Doralee, and Judy. A flying system combining elements of roped access with traditional theatrical rigging was designed to achieve a vertical lift of the performer above a bed. The design process included a formalized risk assessment and careful consideration of the standards laid out in ANSI E1.43-2016 Performer Flying Systems.
